My fiancé Nic and I were looking to get a kitty friend for our resident cat, Waffle. We’d had two cats, but they stopped getting along after taking Waffle to the vet. Despite months of separation and attempts at reintroduction, the fighting was so severe that we had to rehome the aggressor cat. We waited a little while and then found a new kitty, Annabelle, who we thought would be great for Waffle, who is very social. However, because of our previous experience, we were really nervous to have the cats together. We tried a few times, but our nervousness got the best of us and we would end their introduction abruptly. We were so nervous and upset that we couldn’t get them together that we debated giving Annabelle back to the shelter.
We had met Christine a few months prior when we took Waffle to her to be groomed. She was wonderful with Waffle and we thought that she would be able to help us. After setting up a time, Christine came to our apartment and put the cats together right away. Her confidence and knowledge were what we needed. She could tell that what Nic and I thought was aggression was really just a conversation between the cats and they were establishing how things would be between each other. I told Christine at various points that we would have separated the cats by now but she said there was nothing bad happening and ending it would likely cause more harm than good. Christine also did a quick health check on Annabelle and discovered that she had severe gingivitis, which we’ve since taken care of.
Thanks to Christine, the cats have been together ever since her visit. She’s more than happy to answer any questions or concerns we have and also follows up to check on them, particularly with regards to Annabelle’s health. We’re so happy we decided to contact Christine and that she was able to help us! Kayleigh
